چکیده

Abstract In recent times, sustainable production of concrete is now considered a major issue due to continuous depletion raw resources. Thus, this current study investigates the physical and strength performance eco-friendly produced with combination periwinkle (PWS) palm kernel shells (PKS) used as an alternative for granite. Two mix ratios 1:2:4 1:1.5:3 (cement: sand: granite) were 28-day target 20 N/mm2 25 N/mm2, respectively. A total number 144 cubes PWS PKS was partial replacement granite in mixes considered. Physical properties materials determined, while hardened samples tested their density compressive strength. Obtained results showed that both are lightweight compare granite, thus significantly influence density. The revealed decreasing trend development mixes. decreases combined content increases However, containing from mix-ratio exhibited some comparable control. can be equally at optimum 5%. This implies low-cost using shells, helping provide affordable housing also preserving materials.

Investigation of mechanical and durability properties of lightweight concrete containing Pumice

In this research, the effect of the cement, sand, and pumice mixture on the durability of lightweight concrete is investigated. The intention of this paper is to replace a certain amount of the pumice percentage as an alternative option of the cement and pumice sand aggregate with conventional sand components. The experimental results include compressive strength, ion-chloride emission factor (...

Experimental Study of the Combined Use of Fiber and Nano Silica Particles on the Properties of Lightweight Self Compacting Concrete

In fiber concretes, microcracks in the boundary area between the cement paste and the surface of aggregates or fibers are higher. Natural and artificial pozzolans can be used for reinforcing this area. In this research, the combination of glass fiber, zeolite, and nano silica particles were used in lightweight self-compacting concrete containing scoria. Fiber volume fractions between 0% to 1.5%...

Effect of aggregate size and proportion on strength properties of palm kernel shell concrete

This paper presents information on the physical and mechanical properties of different sizes of palm kernel shells (PKS) used here as lightweight aggregates (LWA) and their influence on mechanical properties of palm kernel shell concrete (PKSC). Silica fume and fly ash were used as cementitious materials and all mixes had 1% superplasticizer on cement weight. It has been found that PKS consists...
